K&D Landscaping, a commercial and estate landscaping company on California’s Central Coast, has partnered with the Community Health Trust (CHT) of Pajaro Valley to construct the new Floodberg Park Community Garden. The effort marked the company’s Q2 Beautification Project, with management and field crews volunteering a full day of labor to build garden beds, move soil and plant dozens of greens.

The community garden program is largely funded by a U.S. Department of Agriculture grant and led by CHT in collaboration with the City of Watsonville and the Monterey Bay Master Gardeners. This will be the fourth such garden in Watsonville, aimed at increasing access to fresh produce for local families.

“Our mission is to foster a healthy and equitable Pajaro Valley through advocacy, collaboration and wellness,” says DeAndre’ James, CHT executive director.

K&D, which is celebrating 40 years in business, says community investment remains central to its operations. “There is no better way to honor that milestone than by getting our hands dirty for the community we call home,” comments CEO Justin White.
